MPV

MPV

A multi-purpose vehicle (abbreviated MPV) commonly reffered to as a minivan or people-carrier is a type of vehicle similar in shape to a small van that is designed for passenger transportation. MPVs are taller than a standard taxicab (saloon), or executive car, and are designed for maximum interior room as well as additional space for luggage.

Seats are located higher than in lower cars giving passengers a more upright posture and leaving more room for the legs. Some people find this seating position uncomfortable and prefer lower vehicles such as the standard taxicab, while the disabled, the elderly, children or people with little flexibility may benefit from the extra space.

Larger MPVs usually have three rows of seats, with two or three seats each: 2-3-2, 2-2-3 or 2-3-3 (front to rear) are the most common seating layouts. Smaller MPVs tend to have two seat rows, with a traditional 2-3 layout.
